Offa's Dyke Day 8 - Kington to Hay-on-Wye

A moderate day today, although we still managed to do 17.5 miles. This wasn't helped by the fact we got lost in Kington and circumnavigated the whole town before getting on the path in the right direction (probably 2 extra miles and a 40 minute delay !) - well you can't get everything right even with a guide book, map & a GPS !!

The best part of the day was walking over the Hergest Ridge and all the views of the Shropshire Hills and the Black Mountains, we also visited the tiny village of Gladestry and the Disgwylfa Hill.

Bright late afternoon sunshine greated us as we arrived at Hay-on-Wye, what we hadn't realised was that one of our friends (Tubs) had decided to surprise us and had travelled to Hay-on-Wye that morning (He's got a track record of doing this sort of thing). Rumour has it that he sat in the sun all day in the pub by the bridge - he was there as we walked past around 16:30'ish. He then decided to get a take away and find us later that evening - but fell asleep in his B&B and didn't wake up till the next morning.

Now me & Dav got our skates on the next morning as we had a long stretch to do and we wanted to get to Llangattock Lingoed at a reasonable time as we were meeting other friends there - so we set off really early for once - Tubs Plan B was to wait & meet us on the path as it leaves Hay-on-Wye, but he missed us by 10 minutes and watched us climbing up and away from the town and disappearing into the distance. Doh ! He did manage to catch us later on at Tintern though.
