Offa's Dyke Day 4 - Llangollen to Llanymynech

We said goodbye to Paul in the morning whose time with us had come to an end. He headed back to Prestatyn by train to get his car and head for home. It had been a lively and enjoyable time. For me and Dave the longest and hardest of legs was about to commence.

The walking was initially gentle and very easy going as we enjoyed the canal walking and especially the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct. We then actually see the Offa's Dyke itself for the first time - maybe we'd been on it before but just didn't realise it was there all the time, but it was nice to actually see it for once - Paul had been and gone in 3 days and didn't see it at all.

As the day progressed the Dyke was very clear to see - Unfortunately the rain also arrived later on and the 25 mile stretch became quite heavy going - We were running on empty by the time we arrived at the Bradford Arms in Llanymynech. This was one of the only places that I've been to that didn't really welcome us - they seemed more bothered about the lateness of our arrival and how quickly they could get us fed and done. A tired night in a tired place at the end of a long hard day - but hey ! we had plenty to look forward to ahead of us.
