My chosen route today was a bit into the unknown - I planned to turn left after the gate and head straight up to Steel Fell summit
Not too bad at first - but I struggled to see any sign of a path up ahead which I had hoped there might be
The climb got steeper and steeper so I gave up working my way through the patches of scree and rocks as although it wasn't 'scary' it was at the limit of my comfort zone. I veered to the left to pick up the fence line and this helped me (very slowly) to the summit of Steel Fell
Steel Fell summit. It was here that I said a few words to/for my friend Ray who sadly passed away yesterday. Top of a mountain - can't get much closer really

Keep to the right of the fence posts - left takes you down towards Stonethwaite (nearly did that many years ago !)
At Standing Crag looking towards another Blea Tarn
Right turn up ahead- not very visible
Heading towards Harrop Tarn
Very serene Harrop Tarn
Trouble ahead ??
Ok - I'll get my boots wet then
