Buttermere circular lakeside walk

Friday 14th August 2020

A gentle stroll around Buttermere amongst the backdrop of the High Stile ridge. We have done this walk many times before, its always a nice easy one to enjoy whilst chatting and appreciating the full beauty of the lakes in this most idyllic of locations. It can be started and finished near Gatesgarth Farm, where there are parking places - or where we started, Buttermere Village itself. I like to finish where there is a pub, and there are two in Buttermere, so that's usually the draw.

The walk took us over a couple of hours, but we did stop for 20 minutes at Gatesgarth to sample the lovely Lakeland 'Madagascan' Vanilla Ice Cream, which on such a hot day was a real treat.

I haven't tended to keep details of this easy walk - so today I decided to 'blog' it and record it for good as it's too good to go unnoticed.
