Buachaille Etive Mor

Thursday 24th September 2015

Buachaille Etive Mor is one of the best known and loved of all the Munro peaks. Steep and rough ascent is followed by a bouldery ridge. Once over the burn, the normal route through the Lairig has a good path. The descent is steep and a little scrambly in places, we pressed on but as we gained height the rain became torrential and then turned into painful hail on the ridge.

This atrocious weather ruined what was always a dream of mine to stand on the summit and look out over Rannoch Moor. We had also planned to visit the second Munro (Stob na Broige), but it was just so awful we went straight back down after summiting Stob Dearg.

I will return one day in good conditions - I promised myself this.
